Counseling services are specifically developed to meet individual needs. To the extent possible, services are provided with maximum involvement of the individual and other systems in the community with which the individual may be involved. Services are provided with the intent of enabling the individual to receive appropriate intervention in the least restrictive environment and ideally to care for the individual within the community.

A variety of treatment modalities and techniques are employed in the delivery of services to individuals depending on the individual’s needs and capacity to benefit from a particular therapeutic approach. Services include providing co-occurring mental health and substance use outpatient services.  Group counseling, peer support, education, substance use case management, and individual treatment are services that may be included on an individual’s treatment plan.  The individual and their assigned clinician will work together to plan and regularly review the individual’s goals while in services.

All services below are accessed through the Rapid Access Services.

Group and Individual Treatment Services

Treatment services are provided to adults experiencing problems and disruption in their lives due to mental illness, substance use, and co-occurring disorders.  Group and Individual Treatment Services enhances an individual’s ability to cope with life stress, manage their illness and make productive life choices.  Together with a clinician, an Individual will develop a treatment plan and establish recovery and wellness goals.  Outpatient treatment services may also include psychiatric evaluations; medication review and monitoring; post hospital and aftercare treatment; psychoeducational groups; and evidence based counseling services.

Your clinician will work with you collaboratively to recommend frequency and duration of these services.

Individuals presenting for MAT must undergo a screening process to determine their suitability for the program.  A referral does not guarantee acceptance into the program. The eligibility and appropriateness for treatment will be determined by the treatment team. The program requires individuals participate in additional services that may include individual and/or group counseling, psychiatric treatment, peer support services, and/or substance use case management.

Substance Abuse Subtle Screening Inventory (SASSI)

The Substance Abuse Subtle Screening Inventory (SASSI) is a tool used to assess an individual for a certain substance use disorder. The assessment is done with the help of questionnaires making the entire evaluation process simple for the individual.  Following the completion of the SASSI and a brief assessment with a clinician, recommendations for services and treatment are discussed.  Assessments are completed for various reasons and may include self-referrals or court order.  Results may be provided, upon request, with a signed release of information.  There is a cost for the assessment, and is due at the time of service.

Child Care & Transportation Services

Child care and transportation services are available during your participation in Substance Use Outpatient Services.  The goal of these services are to help reduce barriers that you may experience related to child care and transportation so that you can focus on reaching your recovery goals.  Individuals should be enrolled in Substance Use Outpatient in order to access these services.  You may discuss this service with your assigned clinician/case manager.

Adult Restoration Services

Restoration Services assists the local courts with providing services to individuals who may or may not be competent to stand trial. DPCS receives orders from the local courts for these services. The individual will receive individual sessions that focus on education regarding the legal procedures and roles with the judicial system in an attempt to restore the individual’s competence to stand trial. Upon completion of these services, the restoration provider will coordinate with a psychological evaluator to complete the final evaluation and report to the court the final findings.
