Welcome to the Human Resources Division
The Human Resources Division is responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Agency's human resources programs, including recruitment, retention, employee relations, compensation, performance, management, and benefits. In addition, the Human Resources Division is responsible for the maintenance of the building and grounds at the 245 Hairston Street office site and the Agency's fleet of vehicles.

The Assistant Director of Human Resources is responsible for the recruitment and retention of employees, administering employee benefits, and providing training and guidance to top management, supervisors, and employees.

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for the maintenance of the building and grounds, and alarm system at 245 Hairston Street; providing administrative support to the Director of Human Resources; assist with administering the Agency's worker's compensation program and other benefits; and providing training to employees and supervisors on human resource related topics.

The Fleet Manager oversees the Vehicle Service Center located on 146 Carolyn Court and is responsible for the maintenance and safety of vehicles owned or leased by the Agency.

  • To be considered for an available position, a completed DPCS employment application is required.  Applications are accepted during normal office hours (Monday-Friday 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM), or mailed to DPCS, Attention: Human Resources, 245 Hairston Street, Danville, Virginia 24540.


  • All sections of the application form must be completed in order for it to receive consideration.  A resume, if required, must be included.


  • Your application must indicate a position title and position number in order to be accepted.  If you do not know the position title or number, click HERE. Your application will be given consideration for the position title and number indicated on your application.  Photocopied applications with original signature will be accepted for multiple jobs for which you are applying.  All applications must be received no later than 5:00 PM on the deadline date for the position advertised.  DPCS cannot consider unsolicited applications or applications received after the closing date for a posted position.


  • Included on each application is a request for information regarding the applicant's race, gender, age, education, and referral source.  Provision of this information is voluntary, and answers to these questions are strictly for record keeping purposes, in compliance with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.  This section of the application will be detached upon receipt and filed separately.

Background Checks
Any offer of employment is contingent upon satisfactory background checks that are conducted through The Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry of Virginia Department of Social Services and other social services departments; the Virginia State Police or the state police of the applicant's former state(s) of residence; and the Central Criminal Records Exchange to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Drug-Free Workplace
The Agency is committed to maintaining a drug-free workplace and therefore has a Drug-Free Workplace Policy applicable to all employees of the Agency. The Agency strictly prohibits the following illicit actions: use, possession, sale, conveyance, transportation, storage, transfer, dispensation, distribution, or manufacture of illegal drugs, intoxicants, controlled substances, and/or drug paraphernalia in any amount or in any manner. Notwithstanding the foregoing possession, conveyance, transportation, storage, transfer, dispensation, or distribution of prescription medication by an employee pursuant to that employee’s normal job duties in the ordinary course of the business of the Agency shall not be in violation of Drug-Free Workplace Policy. The abuse of alcohol, the use of unverified prescription medications, the abuse of prescribed or over-the-counter drugs, or the use of alcohol or over-the-counter medications so as to be under the influence (as determined by the Agency) while on Agency property; in an Agency vehicle; while on the job including, but not limited to, during the employee’s working hours at lunch or other mealtime, or while otherwise engaged in activity on behalf of the Agency; or at or traveling to any job site is also strictly prohibited. Abiding by the terms of the Drug-Free Workplace Policy is a condition of employment. Violations of this policy shall result in disciplinary actions.
