Services
for Women with Infants (Postpartum
Assessment Team)
Danville-Pittsylvania
Community Services offers specialized services for pregnant women
and women who have recently delivered. The purpose of planning
Substance Abuse Services for you, your infant, and family is to
assist in the improvement of your health, aid in the recovery
process, and enhance family unity. This program links you to
community professionals who care. The result is the entire
community works together to improve the health of mothers and their
babies in Danville and Pittsylvania County.
While
you are Pregnant
During
or immediately following your pregnancy, Substance Abuse Services
are available for you. The earlier intervention and treatment
begin, the better the outcome for you and your baby.
If
at any time during your pregnancy, you would like to begin a
recovery program, please tell your primary care physician, nurse,
social worker, or call Danville-Pittsylvania Community Services.
Hospital
Discharge Planning
In
1998, the Virginia General Assembly enacted a House Bill that
required hospitals to provide discharge plans for postpartum
substance abusing women, their infants, and families. The
hospital is required to contact the local Community Services Board (CSB)
to manage and implement the discharge plans.
In
Danville and Pittsylvania County, services are available for
postpartum women and their infants through Danville-Pittsylvania
Community Services, the local CSB. The most important goal of
these services is to help women and infants obtain medical, social,
and emotional care to assist in their recovery.
