"Phoenix" Means "Out of the Ashes - a New Beginning."

This is what the Phoenix Place Program offers to its residents.  A chance at a new life...a new beginning, to live a happy, productive, drug/alcohol free life!

What is Phoenix Place?

Phoenix Place is a licensed, residential, independent living treatment program for chemically dependent persons in recovery.  The program is licensed by the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Services.

Phoenix Place provides it's residents with the opportunity to live in a safe, alcohol and drug free environment, while working toward continued recovery and independent living.

The Phoenix Place Program is comprised of caring, trained professionals dedicated to the residents' continued recovery and successful transition back into the community.

An Overview of the Phoenix Place Program

The Phoenix Place Program is a licensed residential treatment program operating in a three-quarter-house setting.  Residents have the opportunity to focus on their recovery in a safe, chemical-free environment for up to 12 months, while gaining skills necessary for reintegration into society as an independent and substance-free individual.  Because one objective is to develop the individual's self-reliance and responsibility, there is no onsite supervisory presence 24 hours a day.

All residents are responsible for routine household tasks while living in the houses, as well as caring for themselves both physically and emotionally.  Daily house visits by Behavioral Health Services staff serve to confirm and support the efforts of residents learning to live independently.

Residents are required to gain employment within 30 days of admission.  Regular attendance at all scheduled therapy sessions (individual or group), educational classes, life skills workshops, and weekly meetings with other house residents is also required.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Phoenix Place Program is:

  • To provide a drug-free, safe environment allowing recovering men and women to refocus and further develop those skills necessary for independent living, as set forth in individual treatment plans

  • To reunite and positively empower the family system

  • To provide assistance in networking with out-community resources, when indicated, helping the resident reach goals set forth in the individual treatment plan

  • To provide the recovering chemically dependent individual a residential alternative that is progressively less restrictive

  • To demonstrate that chemically dependent adults can be in recovery, be rehabilitated, and be transitioned into the community as independent, contributing citizens
