Hope Harbor is a residential substance abuse treatment and work program.  It is a non-profit corporation licensed by the state as a residential drug treatment program.  The mission of Hope Harbor is to help men seeking recovery from alcoholism and other drug addictions to move toward sobriety and spiritual growth.

Treatment Program:  The primary focus of the program is teaching men how to stay sober while going about a normal workday.  Every resident must take part in an ongoing drug and alcohol program that includes:

  • Submitting to random drug and alcohol testing to ensure abstinence

  • Collaborating in the development of their personal treatment plan

  • Participating in group recovery sessions with other residents and counselors

  • Attending AA/NA meetings in the community

  • Learning new life skills focused on independent living

  • Functioning as part of a team

  • Developing good work habits and becoming self-supporting

Through a contractual program with DPCS' Substance Abuse Services, an Intermediate Care Counselor provides individual and/or group sessions to referred Hope Harbor residents.  Services include vocational counseling, life skills, and substance abuse counseling.

Work Program:  Every resident is expected to be physically, mentally, and emotionally able to work.  If the consumer already has a job, he can continue with this job.  Hope Harbor runs a yard crew that allows us to provide paying work for the men who do not already have a job. The work program accomplishes many things:

  • Credible employment allows the man to regain his dignity and self-esteem

  • 60% of our general operating budget is generated through the work program

  • Consumers develop the work habits that allow them to continue supporting themselves after they leave our program

  • Physical work helps reduce the physical cravings for drugs or alcohol that men often experience in early recovery
