Responsibilities: Provides coverage on an as needed basis for the following shifts: day shift (8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.), evening shift (4:00 p.m. to 12 midnight), night shift (12 midnight to 8:30 a.m.), weekends (12 hour shifts), and holidays. Responsibilities include providing face-to-face and telephone crisis intervention, diagnostic evaluations and assessments of need for treatment, preadmission screenings for private and state psychiatric hospitalization, behavioral health consultations, and referrals to other programs or community based services.

Requirements: Master’s Degree in Human Services (with license preferred), or a Registered Nurse licensed to practice in Virginia with 36 months experience working in mental health, or a current agency employee with a Bachelor’s Degree and previously “grandfathered” by the Executive Director as certified as a preadmission screening evaluator are exempt from the Master’s Degree requirement. Outpatient or inpatient clinical mental health and/or substance abuse treatment experience required; documented crisis intervention experience within the past five years required. Successful completion of the DMHMRSAS approved Certification Training Program for Preadmission Screening Evaluators required. Fingerprinting, State and FBI criminal record reports, drug testing and CANIS Report will be required upon request.

Residence Requirement: Must be located within a 30 mile radius of Danville-Pittsylvania Community Services, 245 Hairston Street, Danville, VA during the time that services are being provided.
